Firm Secures Judgment in the amount of $1,204,694.87 – Hostile Work Environment, Sexual Harassment & Gender Discrimination Case – As reported in the New York Post, Firm represented a female employee against her former employer JS Barkats, P.L.L.C., a law firm, and Sunny Barkats, an individual, for, quid pro quo sexual harassment and gender discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended (“Title VII”), and the New York City Human Rights Law (NYCHRL”). The case concluded in a Judgement in the amount of $1,204,694.87 awarded as (1) lost wages damages in the amount of $24,352.85, inclusive of pre- judgment interest; (2) emotional harm damages in the amount of $350,000; (3) punitive damages in the amount of $700,000; (4) reasonable attorney’s fees in the amount of $128,056.74; (5) costs in the amount of $2,285.28; and (6) post- judgment interest pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1961.
