New York State Minimum Wages Increase on December 31, 2018
As the holidays approach, it is easy to lose track of time, and before we know it, we are several months into 2019. However, please remember that the minimum wage is set to increase on December 31, 2018 for New York City and New York State.
For New York City, for employers with 11 or more employees, the minimum wage will increase from $13.00 per hour to $15.00 per hour. For employers with 10 or fewer employees, the minimum wage will increase from $12.00 per hour to $13.50 per hour.
For Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester Counties, regardless of the size of the employer, the minimum wage will increase from $11.00 per hour to $12.00 per hour. For the rest of New York State, regardless of the size of the employer, the minimum wage will increase from $10.40 per hour to $11.10 per hour.
Please note that the above is the general minimum wage for New York City and New York State. There are also applicable minimum wages specific to certain industries, such as hospitality or farming, and those minimum wages are, in general, set to increase on December 31, 2018.
